| Contents | We refer to the articles published in The Star on 28 May 2010 titled "Affin to bid for EON Cap Bank at a cost of RM5.2bil", on 29 May 2010 titled “A Bird in Hand is Worth Two in the Bush” and our earlier announcements dated 16 April 2010 and 20 April 2010. The Board of Directors of AFFIN (“Board”) wishes to inform that AFFIN had on 4 May 2010, submitted an application to Bank Negara Malaysia ("BNM") for approval to commence negotiation with EON Capital Berhad (“EON Cap”) and/or its major shareholders ("Application"). The decision on the Application is still pending from BNM as at the date of this announcement. The Board is unable to provide any details of the proposed acquisition of an interest in EON Cap (“Proposed Acquisition”) as they are still subject to, amongst others, the approval of BNM in respect of the Application. The Board will however, make further and timely announcements once the details of the Proposed Acquisition have been finalised. This announcement is dated 31 May 2010. |
